Reporting a dog bite to the police can be helpful, particularly if the attack was serious, the dog was dangerous, the owner is unknown, or there are concerns about public safety.
A police report may also help support a compensation claim because it can provide evidence about what happened, who was involved and whether any action was taken.
However, not having reported the attack immediately does not automatically prevent a claim. Other evidence may still be available, including medical records, photographs, witness statements, CCTV footage and messages.
Havard Law Solicitors can advise what steps to take if the attack has not yet been reported.
